The sources of inspiration for the project were rib and spinal bone structures that exhibit great beauity through their repeating and parallel elements. These were tranlslated onto the base of the table while the tabletop reamained very simple. There was an emphasis on keeping the overal design simple to highlight the fine materials.
A full scale prototype was made using the final materials. Fine hard woods (red oak. sapele) were selected to add to the simple elegance of the piece. The prototype helped to validate ergonomic proportions and provided ratification of the design's intent. The assembly of the piece was simplified so it could be easily reporduced.
